Consumer Bankruptcy is a 3 credit hour course that focuses on the liquidation and rehabilitation of consumer debtors, primarily under Chapters 7 and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. Specific topics include: informal debt collection; state and federal limits on debt collection; eligibility for relief under Chapters 7 and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code, the automatic stay, bankruptcy treatment of creditors' claims; exemptions, redemption, and reaffirmation, discharge and dischargeability, and the formulation and confirmation of Chapter 13 rehabilitation plans.
