Professor Dennis D. Hirsch
Professor Hirsch has a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia
University, where he graduated summa cum laude, and a Juris Doctorate from
Yale University Law School. Upon graduating from law school, Professor
Hirsch clerked for Judge John M. Walker, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals
for the Second Circuit. He then practiced environmental law with
Sidley & Austin in Washington, D.C. and, subsequently, taught environmental
law and property at Drake University Law School and Notre Dame Law School.
Professor Hirsch joined the Capital faculty in 1998 and teaches Environmental
Law, several advanced environmental law courses, and Property. His
scholarly writing includes a textbook on environmental law practice.
He serves as faculty advisor to the Environmental Law Society
and as coach to the environmental moot court team.
