LEGAL RESEARCH AND WRITING II

        This semester's class is a continuation the course we began last fall, and this syllabus is a continuation of the syllabus that I distributed to you then.  Please review all of the information in your Fall 2007 syllabus and incorporate it by reference into this document.  Please note that even though we only have one class meeting per week this semester, our assignment schedule is just as rigorous as it was during the last semester!

GRADED ASSIGNMENTS

        The four graded assignments for this semester and their weight are as follows:

1.   Motion for preliminary injunction and memorandum in
      support

  10%

2.   Rewrite -- as a memorandum in opposition

  15%

3.   Memo in support of or in opposition to motion for
      summary judgment

  20%

4.   Oral Argument

    5%


Your grades for this semester will be combined with your grades from last semester for one, overall, four-credit grade.

2.  We shall argue our motions for and against summary judgment on Monday, March 24th, Tuesday, March 25th, and Wednesday, March 26th.  Arguments will be held in Room 454 in the library (the conference room next door to my office), from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  You should wear business dress (jacket and tie, etc.) for your argument.  Please try to avoid scheduling any conflicts during those times.
